Message Yes, I would think so. Not a budget racer. I dont have any experience with Solo 1 applications though it looks like once you do that you spend alot of money. Solo 2 autox has proven very cheap and safe for me so far. My buddy and I both do it( he has a 90TTZ) and are budgets are pretty much the same. Normal maintenance for us both really is just changing pads once or twice a year and keeping a close eye on fluids. It's just the regular maintenance of owning an FD which is more than a Z. A budget racer would be a 1st Gen RX-7 or maybe even a Miata.

: I'm talking cheap on a relative basis. I road race a fair amount, and I know it is more expensive than normal street car operation.

: I was looking for a good, real fun and tossable car for about a year or so to play with (wasn't really planning on doing anything more than intake, ecu or exhaust if anything) but mostly concentrate on driving and building up experience for future club racing.

: So in your opinion, the RX7 would be more painful ($$$ wise) than a Z on a daily driver (some spirited driving, but really smooth driven), once a month track/twice a month autox sort of car for a year or two? I have money, but I don't want to blow it all on a car right now. The market at this point in time seems like a better value.

: In the end, would the TTZ be a better candidate (this is the only similar car to the 7 I have lots of experience with)? I'm more concerned about the financial aspect, b/c as a driver I think both cars are equally competitive. The Rx7 is easier to drive due to weight and balance, but the TTZ is equally capable, but takes a dextrous driver to toss thru the turns correctly to compensate for the weight issue.

: Thanks for your advice.
